I have to enter a security code every time I log into Facebook.

  When you're using   two-factor authentication   or   getting alerts   about logins we don't recognize, we need to be able to remember your computer and web browser information so we can recognize it the next time you try logging in. Some web browser features block this. If you turned on private browsing or set up your browser to clear your history every time it closes, you might have to enter a security code every time you log in.   Learn more . If your web browser includes a  private browsing  or  incognito mode , using it to access Facebook will usually cause this to happen after closing your browser window.

I can't reset my password because I've reached a password reset limit.

  Please check your email's spam or junk folder for the email with a password reset link. In order to keep your account safe, we only let you request a new password a certain number of times each day. If you've reached this limit, you'll need to wait 24 hours before trying to reset your password again. Note: if you're still having trouble, we can help you  recover your account .

I'm having trouble getting the codes from the friends I've chosen as trusted contacts on Facebook. What else can I do?

If you haven't previously  chosen friends as trusted contacts , you won't be able to use this feature to get back into your account. We're sorry to hear you're having trouble getting your security codes from your trusted contacts. If one of your friends is having trouble getting the code, ask them to double check that the link (URL) is correct and try refreshing the page. If you haven't set up any friends as trusted contacts, or if your contacts aren't available, you have some other options for getting back into your account: If you think your account has been hacked, you can use our  Guided Help tool . You can  request a new password  to be sent to your recovery email address. You can try one of these  other solutions to help you log in .

What's a one-time password on Facebook and How do i get one?

  You can use a one-time password to log into your Facebook account any time you feel uncomfortable entering your real password (such as in a library or internet cafe). Here's how: If you're in the US, send a text message (SMS) to 32665 with the message  otp . If you're not in the US, check  this list  to see which mobile carriers support this feature and what number you should use. If your mobile number is already linked to your Facebook account, we'll reply with a unique, 6-character temporary password. If you haven't added this mobile number to your account, we'll send you an email with instructions on how to add it and collect your code. Once you get your code, just enter it in the  Password  section of the Facebook login screen. Your one-time password is temporary and can't be used more than once. Note: One-time passwords are not available if you have  two-factor authentication  turned on.

  When you create a new password, keep in mind: Your password should be easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess. Your Facebook password should be different than the passwords you use to log into other accounts, like your email or bank account. Longer passwords are usually more secure. If you see a message letting you know the password you entered isn't strong enough, try mixing together uppercase and lowercase letters. You can also make the password more complex by making it longer with a phrase or series of words that you can easily remember, but no one else knows.

If I have more than one Facebook account, can I merge them?

  If you want to delete your account but are having trouble logging in,   try these tips. Since it goes against our  Community Standards  to maintain more than one personal account, we don't have a way to merge multiple accounts. However, you can manually switch to one account and keep the information that's important to you. Before you close any of your accounts: Download the information  you've added to the account that you don't want to keep. If you manage any Pages or Groups,  add the account you're keeping  as an admin to that Page or Group. Open the Facebook app from your mobile device, or navigate to Facebook from your mobile browser to add or remove a saved account from your phone.
